The authors Doron Rabinovici (Austria) and Thomas Meyer (Switzerland) both are speakers of Yiddish, and in being Jewish as well as Central-European, they inhabit two distinctly different identities. This can sometimes facilitate seeing oneself as “the other”, who does not quite belong to the society in which one currently lives. How do they live their identities in different contexts, and what inspired their profound engagement against antisemitism and against antisemitic clichés in society? In what way can they translate their individual experiences into literature?Thomas Meyer and Doron Rabinovici will speak about this and much more with the Swedish writer, poet and translator Cecilia Hansson.
The event is a cooperation of the Embassies of Austria and Switzerland with Paideia – The European Institute for Jewish Studies in Sweden and Judiska Församlingen in Stockholm.
Registration by September 22.
